Harishma is 10 today. She had come here when she was 8. She is a student of Arignar Anna Convent Primary School, studying in 4th standard.
Her history of illness starts when she was three - she turned blue, her nails turned blue and she was in a bad condition, rushed to Children’s Hospital but they directed them to other private hospitals. They were told that it was a complicated case and they would have to wait to do the surgery.
Last year at a Cardiology Camp at Stanley Hospital, they were advised not to delay. Gautam and Vanita are a young couple making both ends meet through daily wages and were diffident about the surgery. They felt their daughter was too weak health wise and further delayed the surgery.
This delay has led to complications. However now that they have decided we will need to take it up as soon as possible
Harishma has been diagnosed with Single Ventricular Unbalanced, AV Canal Defect, DORV, Severe Pulmonary Stenosis
She is advised Cardiac Cathetarization, Haemodynamic Study, followed by Univentricular Repair, (Primary Fenestrated Fonton Surgery) for correction of the same.
Estimate Cost –Rs.3,90,000
Again the prevailing lockdown conditions where Survival itself is tough. The parents are just not in a position to contribute but at the same time very worried about their daughter. They plead for help – request the noble, the kind hearted, the compassionate to aid their daughter.
Harishma looks frail – she is lucky it is online schooling this year. The family would be relieved of the stress they go through due to her health and their inability to give her treatment, with a little help from well wishers.
