Help this 8 year old boy for his surgery
Arumbakkam is on the border of tamil nadu – Sasikala’s parents were migrant labourers from Tamil Nadu who settled in Andhra at Arumbakkam.
Sasikala and her husband live on an island in the Pulicat lake which can be approached with a journey by boat.
Since Thirumallai was diagnosed with a heart problem at birth, his grandmother kept the baby with her at Arumbakkam as she felt in times of emergency it would be difficult to bring the baby from the island.
Thirumalai was born with severe congestion and treated at a hospital in Ennore. He was asked to come regularly every month for a check up. And once he was a year old, they were told that Tirumalai had a hole in the heart. He could be managed without surgery if they could prevent him from congestion in the chest.
However a recent camp conducted at his school, Arumbakkam Government School diagnosed him with a condition which could be rectified by a VSD Closure + Aortic Valve repair so that he could lead a normal life.
Thirumalai is elder of two children – he is old, studying in the 4th standard, at the Government School at Arumbakkam.
Thirumalai has been referred to MIOT Hospital for his condition as we undertake free surgeries for children in need.
Thirumalai’s father is a fisher man at the Pulicat Lake. His earnings depend on his catch of the day. It is literally a hand to mouth existence as they are solely dependent on the catch of the day.
Diagnosis - Originally large sub arterial, outlet septal type VSD restricted by RCC Prolapse, left to right shunt, Deformed RCC with mild AR, intact IAS
Treatment – VSD Closure + Aortic Valve Repair for correction of the same
Estimate Cost – 1,80,000 including surgery, ICU & Hospital stay, post op investigations and medications.
